El carnaval de negros y blancos declarado en el 2002 patrimonio cultural de la nación se celebra cada año en pasto, una ciudad andina , la primera semana de enero.
los orígenes del carnaval se remontan a los tiempos antiguos y celebraciones de las culturas indígenas agrarias de los pastos, con el transcurso del tiempo a estas expresiones culturales campesinas; las africanas dando comienzo a lo que hoy en día es el carnaval de blancos y negros en pasto, poco a poco al carnaval se le fueron agregando otros elementos: el cosmético el talco, la música y las carrozas con gigantescas esculturas construidas por los artesanos.
